Where Are We?

Fifteen minutes from Lectoure on a lovely quiet country road, we turn up a short drive and arrive at a bungalow with double French windows and wooden shutters.

The Veranda

The south-east facing terrace has a picture-postcard view of Lectoure, and plenty of space for an outdoor dining table, as well as a couple of deck chairs or even a sun lounger.   The veranda sits higher above the rest of the garden and has a wooden railing.

Its from here that we enter the house and it’s easy to see that whether for morning coffee, an early evening aperitif, or summer evening dining – this is the place one gravitates towards.

The Sitting Room

The small hallway has enough space for a few coats and hats, keys and other useful paraphernalia. The walls of the house are magnolia and the floors in terracotta tiles.

To the left of the hallway, the sitting room is a good sized space, which benefits from two sets of double French windows opening onto the veranda, with its south-easterly aspect.  As well as plenty of room for sofas, armchairs and a dining table, there is a fireplace with wood-burning stove, perfect on a winter’s evening to compliment the radiators that are the main heating source in the house.

The Kitchen

Ahead from the hall, a nice sized modern fitted kitchen.  It benefits not only from a window but also a French door out to the BBQ area at the back of the house.

Between the kitchen and the master bedroom is a functional space where the hot water tank, as well as the washer and dryer and a utility area have been tucked away behind a curtain.

The Bedrooms

Beyond we reach the luminous main bedroom which benefits from dual aspect light, from the double French window as well as a smaller north-westerly window.

As well as substantial fitted cupboards, there is a fitted jet-shower room with WC, sink and heated towel rail.

Off the hallway, we turn left into a good sized double bedroom with windows to the back of the house, and a small curtained storage alcove.

To the right is another double bedroom, this time with French windows opening onto the veranda and the fabulous view.  This also benefits from a curtained storage alcove.

Bathroom

With a window to the back of the house the attractive main bathroom is spacious and light, and includes a corner jacuzzi bath, fitted shower, sink and toilet.

The Garden

The property encompasses just over a third of a hectare, making it the perfect size for a bit of privacy and space.  To the back of the house, there is a great BBQ area, shaded beneath the trees, and in front of the fabulous veranda, the garden slopes down to the hedge that hides the quiet country road.

What We Think Here At BLISS

We here at Bliss would consider, planning permission permitting, putting in a ‘in-ground’ swimming pool instead of the overground one that the current owners enjoyed.  We’d think of tiling the outside terrace as the veranda and pavements that wrap around the house already have been.  And we’d go traditional and repaint the windows, doors and shutters a lovely shade of Lectoure blue, to compliment the buttery colour of the render.

    Who Would This Property Suit?

This is simply the perfect lock-and-leave holiday home, with the space to invite family and guests, and enough outdoors area to enjoy a BBQ or a bit of sunbathing and even a splash in the pool.

This would equally make a great home for a retired couple with adults children or friends to stay, or a young family looking for a place to expand.

If you’re someone looking for a bit of cosmetic redecoration but no major work, and a some light gardening without anything too onerous – this is the place for you.
