Village house & magical gardenclose to Lectoure
on South facing Ramparts
In a small market town to the North of Lectoure sits a light, bright and magical house.
This is a property which is quirky and full of positive energy, an internal space which may hold particular appeal for artists, writers, healers…. or anyone looking for something that little bit out of the ordinary!
Set back from the central avenue with a neat garden, and handsome stone frontage, this house has a welcoming appeal and charming frontage.
It is clear from the care that has been shown to the exterior of the property (it is incredibly neat and tidy!) that as we stand and wait for the owner to open the door…. this is a house which has been much loved. Attention has been paid to detail. It sparkles like a newly washed crystal!
There are no encumbrant inner walls to detract the eye in what is a single space which leads the eye from front to rear, and to the promise of a spectacular garden beyond.
A tasteful glass recess partition encompasses the kitchen which is located at the front of the property and overlooks the street. The kitchen has been recently refurbished with exposed stone walls, and deep Byzantine blue walls, and is fresh and contemporary. Modern elements such as the steel cooker and sink keep the space fresh and vibrant.
The entrance hall open onto a vast reception room, with open plan views to the floor above.
A sizeable wood-burning stove heats the entire room.
Beyond the main reception lies the veranda which opens onto the rear garden. This is a fantastic space for the summer months.
On the ground floor level there is also a spacious room overlooking the rear gardens which is currently used as an artists’ studio, a downstairs bathroom, and separate wc.
The garden sits on the ramparts of the village and has spectacular views to the south.
The garden has been carefully developed and offers several distinct outdoor « sitting » areas. A rose covered bower leads the eye through an ornamental gate to the lawns beyond and to the views.
The views to the rear of the property, heighten the sense of light and space.
A simple wooden staircase leads to the upper floor.
There is nothing traditional on this level at all, and if anything one has the sense, with the open plan rooms and majestic central beams to the centre, that one is on a ship, with not a hallway but a galley way leading to the rooms.
From the upper landing it is possible to look down into the main reception room heightening the modern, youthful, feel of the property.
On the upper level there is a room used for healing and massage. A room for meditation and a bedroom with a spacious dressing-room.
Certainly not a house for lovers of square and traditional houses…. an unusual property.
Here at Bliss
Here at Bliss we particularly love the light and open-plan aspect of the property with a truly magical garden.
An unusual gem… which will appeal to all lovers of … blue!
