Our visit begins with the main house. Although there is a grand and formal Gascon hallway, we enter into a vast kitchen and breakfast room, with direct access to the aforementioned terrace area. The kitchen is fully fitted and equipped, with a dining-area and a feature wood-burner. There is a spacious pantry, a utility area, and a cloakroom. This area offers an incredible family-space, with the aspect of a small appartment rather than a mere kitchen area. It is perfect for any serious chef with plenty of room for large or extended families.

The main reception-room is divided into two by a wood-burning stove which sits in a central position. On one side the room is dressed in the style of a more formal salon, on the other, a snug or cosy television room provides an informal family-room.

“When we first moved in, we were going to remove the bar area from the terrace, as we feared it might look a bit ‘kitch.’ By the time we had finished the renovation work to the rest of the house, we decided it had to stay. We had enjoyed too many wonderful and bucolic evenings with friends around the bar and the fire by that point! ‘Kitch’ of not – it had to stay!”

The living accommodation is completed by a study/library, where an attractive fireplace houses a wood-burning stove.
