This imposing village house dates back to 1880 and has been restored to an impeccable standard in recent years.

It sits back from the road in a small lane with just two other houses, with its eye catching cream façade and brightly coloured shutters. Even from the outside it is easy to see that this house has been lovingly cared for, with its bright joyous air.

Located in the historic quarter of the village, with easy access to shops and restaurants on foot, as well as long walks by the river, the shutters are a vibrant green to the front of the house, and a deep Basque red to the rear, in accordance with guidelines for the area.

“In the Historic Quarter”

The property offers a fine mix of period features (such as the stunning turn of the century floor tiles on the ground floor), along with contemporary additions such as the stunning kitchen and bathroom.

"The floor tiles were the first thing we saw,' smiles the current owner, "and we almost decided to purchase the property because of them. They are stunning. We opened the door and fell in love with the house instantly.'

The tiles are the first of many features which make this property desirable for clients who wish to live within easy walking distance of a vibrant village.

The front door opens onto a spacious hallway which bisects the house, drawing our line of vision to the garden beyond, to a neatly tended garden, with a terrace area draped with wisteria, and a pleasant yet easy to maintain garden.

The terrace is a sheltered spot for outdoor dining and overlooks a carefully clipped lawn area with a variety of shrubs and flowers.

To the rear of the garden there is an exit to a small street behind, as well as an old lavatory which has been converted into a garden shed; its decorative roof mimicking that of the main house; just one of the many finishing details which lend this property its immaculate feel.

Back Inside, the main reception room has a fireplace with a wood burning insert, and is fresh and bright in neutral tones having been recently been painted and decorated.

On the other side of the hallway, the recently fitted kitchen offers two distinct area. The front section, to the window, has space for a large pine table and chairs, with its original sink with period blue tiles in the corner, a reminder of days gone by. The second section houses the beautifully fitted kitchen, with its brand new oven, fridge, extractor fan, and handy wine cooler, and sink. The kitchen is stylish, bright and airy and has been beautifully designed to offer a tremendous work space for a keen cook. The fireplace which currently houses a generous selection of wine, maintains the feel of a period property.

Beyond the kitchen there is access to a rear kitchen area, which overlooks the garden, and to an old barn, previously used as a garage but currently used for storage and accessible from inside the property, and a separate downstairs WC.

The upper floors offer flexible living accommodation, with spacious double bedrooms on both floors (one measuring over 40m2) and one with an en suite bathroom, a separate shower room with WC, and an apartment suite with a study, and a small sitting /games room.

Rooms on both floors are presented to the highest standard and the use of some of the upstairs space as a study or sitting room, lend the upper floor the feel of an appartment or loft, and could be useful as either private accommodation from the main reception room, or for older children to create a playroom area.

Here at Bliss...

Here at Bliss we love: the floor tiles (of course) and the dream kitchen/dining area. It is as pristine as the icing on a wedding cake. This is a house in which you will have a hard time finding a speck of dust out of place. We challenge you to find one. A pure pleasure to visit.

NB: Our working relationships are built on mutual trust with our vendors. By so doing we are able to show photographs which clearly indicate the location of a property. This is not current practice in France. However, it should be noted in such cases that the current owner has chosen to advertise exclusively with our agency as he/she does not wish to enter into negotiations privately with potential buyers or to be contacted directly, choosing to remunerate an agency instead of handling the sale privately. All agency fees are payable by the VENDOR. We cordially invite all buyers interested in viewing a property to contact our agency. We are happy to advise and help throughout the process.
